As I was driving back to Mumbai I said these lines to myself. The impact stayed for long after, as I realized how important these words were.

While the whole world is buy achieving superlitives, being good is something more than enough.
 
Being good to strangers, being polite while addressing people, being cooperative to people in trouble, being silent when people are listening, being punctual when time is important, being accomodating when people are ignorant.

I realized that by just being 'good' to people, one invariably landed up adding significant value to their lives.

Being good to people meant that one was not making a special effort, but was just being oneself.

It also struck me that while our whole education system concentrates on knowledge, there is hardly any emphasis on teaching the importance of being good.

I guess the reason for this is because everyone out there wants to be the BEST. Hence the queue for GOODNESS is very short.

Long time ago, someone had gifted me a book titled 'good to better'', and I kept spending all my time in improving myself. Much to my chargin, i realized that I had lost out on the flavour of life, due to this never ending race.

For me 2007 was a race to become better. 2008, for me is about just remaining 'good enough'..... :)

I want to remove time for things other than work. I want to remove time for things which do not excite me, but excite others. I want to enquire about the achievements that people have made, rather than concentrating on mine alone.

I seem to be fortunate, because the year has begun on a GOOD note. I spent one week, in a rural part of maharashtra, where I was busy conducting a workshop on communication skills to school teachers.

I realized that by just being a good person, i was able to achieve the results that they wanted. Rather than teaching anything, I just concentrated on being a good person.

Giving people lifts, laughing with children, singing songs to entertain strangers, helping a father educate his young son, helping mothers to teach english......

I guess, ive got the secret recipe for this year. :) i shall try to be good to everyone...
